3 Common Toadfish (Tetractenos hamiltoni) 4 Crested Oystergobies (Cristatogobius gobioides, formerly known as Cryptocentroides gobioides) 4 Unknown Gobies (Pseudogobius sp.)
I had Haswell's Shore Crabs (Helograpsus haswellianus) but, their lives were short, particularly due to the fact that they were feeders in the presence of a group of puffer fish.
Freshwater River e.g. Brisbane River upstream:
2 Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia duboulayi) 1 Redclaw (Cherax quadricarinatus) 1 Mangrove Goby (Mugilogobius platystomus/stigmaticus, has adapted well to freshwater) 1 Freshwater Goby (Phylipnodon sp.) 1 Tadpole (Mixophyes sp.)
I am currently doing research into these fishes' extraordinary habit of sitting out low tide in a mangrove creek high and dry, under rocks and logs. They may wait, in 'hibernation' for up to twelve hours for the tide to come back in, at which point they swim out from their now submersed cave to feed and breed until the tide drops again.
Going to set up an Amazonian blackwater palludarium soon.
I urge you to assist in marine and general conservation.
