About this user
His spring summer 2004 collection took place in an the Salle Wagram, a nineteenth-century Parisian dance hall, it was inspired by the movie, "They shoot horses, don't they?" which was about a bitter woman Gloria who enters a dancing marathon, which were popular in the thirties. These marathons were extremely grueling and intense, which took it's toll on her and afterwards she didn't see any hope in life anymore and thinks she's better off dead. The models and dancers had to rehearse intensively for two weeks to study the choreography.
At the start of the show you see the them dancing enthusiastically and systematically, as the show progresses, they feel the pressure of the competition and put even more effort into winning this marathon, which eventually results in exhaustion, this part especially strikes me as something that might be inspired by Artaud. Because Artaud often asks his models to push themselves to the edge of exhaustion. Also the choreography at the end makes it look like the models are moving intuitively, which is also very artaud-esque to me.
