Der Europäische Polizeisportverband wurde als Union Sportive des Polices d'Europe (USPE) am 30. November 1950 auf Initiative des französischen Polizeisportverbandes in Paris gegründet. Gründungsmitglieder waren Belgien, Dänemark, Finnland, Frankreich, Großbritannien, Luxemburg, Niederlande, Norwegen, Schweden und die Schweiz. 1976 hatte die USPE zwölf Mitglieder, beim 23. Kongress im Jahre 1990 in Berlin war die Zahl auf 20 gewachsen. Nach dem Wegfall der Berliner Mauer und der Öffnung Europas nach Osten war es möglich, auch Nationen aus Osteuropa in die USPE aufzunehmen. Inzwischen besteht die USPE aus 40 europäischen Nationen. Sitz der USPE ist der Sitz des Generalsekretariats in Berlin.

The European Police Sports Union was founded as Union Sportive des Polices d'Europe (USPE) on the initiative of the French Police Sports Association in Paris on 30 November 1950. Its founder members were Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Great Britain, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. In 1976 the USPE embraced 12 members and this number had risen to 20 by the 23rd Congress held in Berlin in 1990. After the Berlin Wall had come down and Europe had opened up towards the East, it was also possible to admit Eastern European nations to the USPE. Today the USPE comprises 40 European nations. The registered office of the USPE is the office of the General Secretariat in Berlin.

L'Union Sportive des Polices d'Europe (USPE) fut fondée le 30 novembre 1950 à Paris sur l'initiative de la Fédération Sportive de la Police Française. Au départ, l'USPE regroupait 10 nations: La Belgique, le Danemark, la Finlande, la France, la Grande-Bretagne, le Luxembourg, la Norvège, les Pays-Bas, la Suède et la Suisse. En 1976 l'USPE comptait 12 membres. Au 23ème Congrès en 1990 à Berlin le nombre est passé à 20. La tombée du mur de Berlin et l'ouverture de l'Europe vers l'est ont permis à l'USPE d'accueillir les nations de l'Europe de l'Est. Aujourd'hui, l'USPE est composée de 40 nations européennes. Le siège de l'USPE est à Berlin où se trouve également le siège du Secrétariat Général.
