About this user

I am a gender queer lesbian punk rock girl. A wilderness survival teacher and general survivalist.

My experiences are all in the US in New Mexico and Colorado This gives fairly varied terrain and Bioregions.

I have experiences ranging from being a homeless Teen that opted for Surviving/Living in the Sandia Mountain Wilderness instead of on the city streets; to being a Patroller on the National Ski Patrol; climbing and mountaineering; fishing; hunting with muzzleloader, rifle, bow, homemade and improvised weapons, traps, and snares; gathering/eating wild edible plants; going into the wilderness with as little gear as possible.

Over time learning through trial and error the things I think are essential and honed my Survival Theory.

My intent in this channel is to learn from each other.

Here is a basic run down of my "Two Spirit Survival Philosophy and Theory" and how I remember it. I look at the Survival situation as the "Circumstance" and everything you do and use is to Control that Circumstance.

Circumstance Changed to Control:

1. CALM - (Calm down. Freaking out never saved anyone.)

2. CRANIUM- (Once calm, you can use you head to think.)

3. CREATIVITY - (Thinking allows you to use your creativity for ideas to make things or what to do.)

4. CARPALS - (Carpals as in Hands. Use your hands to make the things needed. )

5. CONFIDENCE - (Confidence that you will survive, in yourself, and ability to do whatever is needed.)

6. CAREFUL - (Do not be over confident take unnecessary chances and get injured. Do not be too careful and do nothing. Balance Confidence and Careful.)

7. CONTINUE - (Push on no matter what. Try again or another way if your first try doesn't work.)

8. CONTRAST - ( Signal for rescue with contrasing colors or smoke from green bows for white smoke or man made materials like plastic rubber etc. for black smoke )

9. COUPLES/COMRADESHIP - (Work together all steps are easier & multiplied. Do not blame each other when something fails. Refer back to steps 1- 8.)

10. CARRY - (What tools or gear you carry or have. *My preferred don't leave home without it; main 4 are Cutting Tool, Container, Combustion, and Compass.

Suggested Carry Items:

1. Cutting tool knife/multi-tool* (OK boys, just pick one and have it with you.)

2. Container - Stainless steel 30-40 Oz.*

3. Combustion - reliable fire*

4. Compass*

5. Cover -- Wool Blanket and/or Tarp, plastic sheet, large trash bag, or Space blanket

6. Cordage -- Para cord 550

7. Clothing -- Wool and Gore-tex

Other Factors: (These are things you can do before the circumstance of a survival situation.)

Condition - (Physical fitness, general health etc.)

Cross-trained - (Being practiced at traditional survival skills and stone-age skills.)
