Sounds like a bad check valve, its part of the fuel pump. This could cause a long cranking issue or you may have an injector leaking down which would do the same. Im sure youve probably sorted this out already.

What were your symptoms? I just finished a 95. Heads and Cam setup good for around 420rwhp, and its running like it has around 300. I havent hooked it up yet but I'm doing some homework.

@19834883 I am a BMW mechanic. Ive seen brand new BMW's roll off the car hauler leaking oil, misfiring, you name it ive seen it. Maybe BMW used to be focused on quality but in my opinion, and this comes from years of experience: BMW producing just as much garbage as any American manufacturer.

What CC heads? is the bottom end still factory? And how was the price?
