Archaeologist & Historian James Balme has been researching and excavating the ancient settlement of Warburton for over 12 years. In that time he has uncovered evidence of human activity at the site from over 8000 years of history and in particular a strong Roman presence.
But the finds that have really excited James are those from the Neolithic period of history ( The new Stone Age circa 6000BC ).
See for yourself in this film just a small selection of the many hundreds of Neolithic artefacts that James has discovered during his work in the village. James continues to push back the boundaries in his ground-breaking research into the prehistoric activity at the site and not only has he recovered finds from the land but now he is finding many more Neolithic implements and artefacts from the river that flows through the settlement. The Summer and Autumn of 2009 is going to prove very exciting as his research gathers pace !!!
