You cannot compare the two. The Shadows have Hank and Bruce. Probably the most respected Lead and Rhythm guitarists around today.
The Ventures sound mediocre with a Rhythm guitarist that lets the side down.

@VENTURESIII Not possible for 1958 as Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch of the Shadows did not write the tune until 1961. Incodentally, this is a poor performance compared with the original Shadows version.
