Recently, we have watched momentous developments inside our neighbor, Iran.
We may not know for some time whether political conflict might spur any fundamental change by its leaders. That we cannot control and do not want to control.
What we can control is the nature of our economic and trade partnerships with Iran. They are considerable, including Iran-based operations of various companies based in Ras Al Khaimah.
In that regard, we must review all of our business ties with Iran to determine two things:
One, are they necessary?
Two, if they are, are they being conducted with the utmost integrity and transparency.
Iran has made it clear that it wants to expand its influence throughout the Middle East. That includes gaining new powers from financial arrangements that generate revenues for the rulers of Iran.
If we in Ras Al Khaimah are operating as business partners of Iran, we must make sure that we are deriving our fair share from every transaction and that every transaction must be conducted legally and in accordance with international sanctions.
If not, the people of Ras Al Khaimah suffer, and that it something I will work tirelessly to avoid.

His Highness Sheikh Khalid, who studied in both the U.S. and U.K., has led an effort to expand educational opportunities for the people of RAK and to encourage graduating students to dedicate time to public service at home. RAK is currently faced with many challenges, including dangerous water shortages, lack of economic benefits for its people and unchecked criminal activity at its borders.

Once again, we have reached a glorious time of year in Ras Al Khaimah.
All those graduating from high school and university are moving on to the next phase of life. And, as every student knows, each successful year of education takes them closer still to a successful life.
Lives built on the foundation of a strong education weave the fabric of a stable, secure and modern society. Perhaps nothing in my life has shaped me more than attending Loughborough University in the United Kingdom and winning a prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship for emerging world leaders, a six month study program in the United States.
So I congratulate all those who have reached the next level of education, and I wish you good luck in your future studies. I am especially proud of our women students, the luckiest ever in Ras Al Khaimah. More and more opportunities are opening for you. We must do everything we can to embrace your intellect and energy and find uses for them.
We are less of a nation without it.
To those now embarking on your career of choice, I congratulate you, as well. But to you, I pose a special challenge one that will enrich your soul before your wallet: Work in the service of someone other than yourself. Spend a year or two helping others. Teach a class. Build a house. Help the elderly.
Seek a job that directly improves the life of someone less fortunate.
Public service provides rewards that few other pursuits can offer you. Its helping another, just for the sake of helping another. By doing so, you honor yourself and strengthen society, which is only as strong as its weakest person, as secure as the most vulnerable among us.
As the strongest among us, our young and highly educated citizens are the best equipped to step in with a helping hand.
And so I call on you: Before you discover the next wonder drug, the next source of renewable energy, the next cure for disease, remember that you have people skills as well. Use them. Lend a hand. Help another. It will feed your soul as no other pursuit can.
Nothing would honor your education more.

:English Translation

Dear brothers and sons, the loyal people of Ras Al Khaimah...Ever patient in the face of suffering.
We were unknowingly fated to suffer for many years, after sincerely applying ourselves in our duty in building this country ever since its founding, sparing no effort in maintaining the growth of our country and its protection from hands that would tamper with its constitution, land, security and citizens.
But the circumstances around the change in the of position of Crown Prince are shrouded in mystery...as such we were surprised by this unjust resolution, after forty-five years since acquiring this position, towards which we have spent our best efforts for the sake of the emirate and its people and not for the prestige.
And years passed, while we raised the demand to return things to their rightful place, going down no other path than that of the Constitution and law, and at our disposal a decree issued on February 24, 2004 that corrects things by returning things to their rightful place. This decree was issued by our father, His Highness Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.
We have hence handed it over to officials in the country, led by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
We have repeatedly demanded the legitimate approval of the decree as per the application of Article 3 of the Constitution of the UAE, which provides that each emirate has the right to act on its internal affairs, and all we hoped for from our country is the application of this constitutional article which would return things to their rightful place in accordance with the decree,
We very much hope that the decision-makers would take this correct, legal step to ratify matters in RAK, especially that the situation in RAK are in a state of indescribable deterioration that cannot compare to any other situation in the UAE... and perhaps even further out.
I direct to you, my people in Ras Al Khaimah, many thanks for your cooperation in supporting the legitimacy of the unification of opinion and demanding the restoration of rights by the application of the law... Be assured that we have not, and will never give up on this legitimate right.
Dear people of Ras Al Khaimah, we suffer...as we know you suffer...However this is a test by God who desires no injustice to befall his worshippers, and in every matter there is a lesson... And our belief is that what was taken unjustly, must justly return... The injustices in life become unimaginable darkness on the Day of Resurrection, where each soul bears responsibility for its sins and actions...to receive the Lord on a day where neither money nor descendants can help.
