Founded by Judge Thomas K. Petersen and Jennifer Schuster in 1993 with US Department of Education funding in partnership with Miami-Dade County Schools. TCA serves a total of 60 youths between the ages of 13-18 who are failing in traditional school settings and are involved in the juvenile justice system. While at TCA, students attend small group classes that are taught by teachers who are certified within the State of Florida.

Our mission is to protect the public and build communities by providing supervision, education and services to at-risk youth through caring, responsive and evidence based delinquency prevention strategies, thereby reducing juvenile crime.

Film and video production is just one of the many programs offered at Troy Academy. Troy Academy TV is the outlet used by the students to show off their work. The program is supervised by Jose DePablo, Miami-Dade County Schools Instructor and Video Producer.
