A touch of contemporary Hawaiian Island-style music has arrived in Hampton Roads with Tropical Jam.

It all started when a group of talented young musicians with a shared Hawaiian heritage sprang from a simple desire to hang out together, jam on their ukuleles and learn more about the music unique to the island tradition.

Before long, the kids invited a handful of musically talented friends to join the fun and each week, as they say in Hawaii, the group just got "betta and betta."

Tropical Jam is ready to bring authentic tropical atmosphere to your party! Our unique beat focuses on a performing style called "Jawaiian," a musical hybrid of Hawaiian and Jamaican rhythms. Current song selections include "Surf" and "Tropical Hawaiian Day" by the Ka'au Crater Boys, "White Sandy Beach" by Braddah Iz, Pearly Shells, and many more. We mix in a little bit of Bob Marley with "Three Little Birds." Also we play "Wipe Out" by the Surfaris in conjunction with a "Hula - Hoop" contest.
