Resource extraction corporations determine our environmental policies. Transnational corporations determine our trade policy. And the wealthiest amongst us - their wealth deeply rooted on the corporate form- determine our tax policies. Corporations armed with "free speech", "due process", "equal protection" (rights increasingly denied to ordinary citizens), media control, and all the lawyers and lobbyists that wealth can support, define our culture, our schools, our elections, and the operation of our government itself.
