Making your own printed circuit board can be a truly satisfying process, tying together electronics and the handmade craft of etching. It's the most accurate way to build a circuit short of sending away to a PCB manufacturer and it's a lot more fun (+ cheaper too!). For a full list of materials used plus more tips for etching & drilling head over to MAKE's site - http://blog.makez...

Reading and identifying electronic components is skill a needed skill for folks working with electronics. Many of the components have gone to microchips or surface mount technology. However to do any trouble shooting or fixing - even your cars electrical system requires some of this skill. I hope this video will give viewers an idea how to get started. Some of these skills are needed to obtain an amateur radio license.
I have used this skill sense I started building simple crystal radios 62 years ago at age 10. I have used this ability almost daily everyday during that time. Even to wire a simple door bell circuit required some of this skill so just learn-it-now.
David started at age 8 building Using or teaching about electronic devices - that was 65 years ago. It started with a crystal radio then ham license at 14 yrs http://tinyurl.co... , Navy electronics at 17ys old , Field Engineer at 21yrs old http://tinyurl.co... , teaching 'Electronics for Scientist' at Virginia Tech at 29yrs , Director of 'Foundation for Amateur International Radio Service' (FAIRS) at 52 yrs and at 73 he is still busy with electronics. Collector of historical Microcomputers http://tinyurl.co... & along the way David has small collection of ham radio equipment.
