TRIBAL TIDE
Singapore's Premiere World music Band
Tribal Tide was formed in 1989 by a group of drumming
friends sharing similar passion for percussion.
With a combined experience of more than 40 years, everything these drummers and percussionists do is original. Their inspiration flows from the world around them, from people they encounter, the streets they travel to the forces of nature
-- the sounds of the jungle, the tempo of the rain and the power of thunder.
Tribal Tide fuses the musical roots of Latin and Indian percussion, African drums , Afro-Cuban drums , Middle Eastern, Brazilian drums, Australian didjeridu and ethnic percussion. It's all about the addictive fusion of pulsating rhythms and indigenous vocalizing.
Since that time, Tribal Tide has gained valuable experience playing with both local and overseas musicians. And they've played with some of the big names in the drumming industry, like Alex Acuna, Dennis Chambers, and Japanese drummer Akira Jimbo, Manu Katche of "Sting" and the list goes on....
Tribal Tide has been involved with National Arts Council in the "Arts Education Programme " for schools since 1998.
They have also been invited to perform at the "Percussion Fiesta 1999" held at the Victoria Theater organized by the National Arts Council of Singapore.
Year 2000 --Tribal Tide performed for the launch of the PERCUSSIVE ART SOCIETY IN SINGAPORE.
Year 2003 -- Tribal Tide performed at the Esplanade 'Theatres by the Bay' and was involved in the Womad Festival Singapore 2003 (a coloboration with South African vocal and dance group "SHIKISHA"
Year 2004
Tribal Tide kick off the year 2004 , performing with international artist Bobby Mcferrin at the Esplanade concert Hall entitled
"An Evening with Bobby Mcferrin and SSO"
Performed for the opening ceremony of the Singapore Arts Festival 2004..
Year 2005
Tribal Tide performed at the Mosaic Festival at the Esplanade in March 2005, Tribal Tide also performed at the Singapore Arts Festival (Drum Explosion) 2005. Performed at the "Esplande"Kala Utsavam"
Year 2006
Tribal Tide performed at the Esplanade for the National day celebration.
---- performed for the President Star Charity Show 2006 with International artiste Stephanie Sun.
---- performed at the Singapore Arts festival 2006 collaborating with Artistes from India- Kailash and Blaaze.
--Performed for "Miss Vasntham 2006"- a mediacorp event
Tribal Tide recording their first Percussive world music album.
Year 2007.
Tribal perform for mediacorp event "Best Viewers choice" held at Oosh.
--performing for Miss Universe Singapore- semi finals on the 24th of march .
Year 2007.Tribal Tide debut concert 2007
Today Tribal Tide has gain great recognition in the Music scene both locally and Internationally.
