@Lynnski4 Please check out my other video called 'Needle Tatting Flower pendant' as it is slower with spoken instruction and no, I do not currently have a video of working off the ball. I might get on made in the future, but it is a technique that I rarely find a use for.

@gypsy2814 The thread thickness should match the thickness of the needle you use. For size 10 crochet cotton, which is what I used, use a size 5 needle. For thicker thread or yarn there are larger needles, you will just have to match them to your thread as I have no idea what 'thick thread' you a...

@britinpa So sorry for the late reply, but you can still work off the ball with split rings, you just need to pull out extra thread for the needle side. The only times you can't work off the ball is two color tatting and working patterns written for a single shuttle

@girliebookworm I usually do 5 or 6 sets between rings, but you can do as many or as few as you like for the length you'd like.

@leandroc2011 Hi! What makes a tatting needle special is it's blunt end, length and that it does not change thickness at the eye. Most other needles do. I've heard tale that some people use long doll needles and they sand the tip down. You can find tatting needles online through Amazon.

@willowke You're pulling the working thread through the picot and placing it on the needle and then you continue with the ds's. This can also be done using a crochet hook.

@Penlou3 For the flower you only need maybe a foot of tail thread. My best guess for what is going wrong for you is that you are tatting with the tail thread and not the ball thread. The tail thread in this method is only for pulling the stitches onto and all your stitches should be made with the...

@CantrellMS Not at all. Both the rings and chain stitches are formed with the ball thread on the needle and pulled off the needle onto the needle thread. The only difference is that the chain is just pulled straight through and the ring required you to pull the needle through the loop to bring th...

@CantrellMS The only difference between a ring and chain is you do not put the needle trough the loop for a chain, you simply pull through the needle thread.
