About this user
I'm co-founder, president, and primary algorithm designer and coder for Toonamation. We implement image processing tech to quickly and easily give videos and photos striking, high quality comic book/graphic novel, painterly, and graphic design looks. Our tech is used in ToonIt, the premier cartoon effects plugin for After Effects, Final Cut Pro, and Avid video editors, distributed by our partner Red Giant. Digital Anarchy distributes a parallel version of ToonIt for Photoshop and Aperture photo editiors.
I recently learned the CUDA language for programming Nvidia GPUs and wrote the CUDA components for Digital Anarchy's Beauty Box, which was the first CUDA-based Photoshop plugin. I'm currently putting together a library of CUDA-based cartoon and paint effects, some ports from our CPU versions, some wholly new. We now have multiple effects that render HD video in real-time using Fermi cards. We're actively looking for opportunities to incorporate these into video chat and streaming or server applications.
Also my public face as president of and advocate for Toonamation (tech I had a large part in developing) isn't very different than my private face. I'm into art and math and computer graphics, where I like to code my own effects from scratch. I have a fairly large comic and graphic novel collection, and I'm into science fiction and horror, both as a reader and as a viewer of online and offline media. You can track some of what I'm into day to day by following me as Toonerstan on twitter. I chose this as the coolest problem I could work on where I thought I could make a significant contribution. Plus I like working for a company whose head is the most reasonable person I know. :-)
Cheers.
