If you load your own, the 45 LC is a better round than the 44 Mag. It has a heavier bullet and can exceed pressures of the 44 Mag. The only factory loads good for hunting would be Buffalo Bore, Corbon Hunter, or Double Tap.

With a 50 caliber bullet, it doesn't matter if you have a FMJ or a JHP !

When you use hollow points in big calibers like 44 MAG, 45 Colt, 454 casull, and 50 AE it still blows on through but it makes a hole the size of a basketball coming out !

Both are good for different reasons. Overall if you are a good shot FMJ is the way to go. Penetration is key and when a bullet hits the spine, the perp drops like a bad habit !

They have the Ranger Nato 9mm from winchester which are the premium version of the WB stuff. They are for a FMJ 9mm pretty hot and with decent energy ! If FMJ is all you have for defense those are the 9mm to have. It's not a hollowpiont, but it's better than nothing !

Personally I rather use American Eagle or Lawman over UMC. They have more load variety and you can get some decent hot FMJ loads in them in many calibers.
