Yes this is true but the feel is completly different. I play a 6 string and yes about 90% of what i play can be done on a 4 string but the way the strings feel, the options i have as to where i can rest my thumb, and the option to play a note in a alternate location double stoping with it's octav...

@BassPlayerBedwell Agreed. I just don't belive in defiying them by the string count. You can play the same high note on a bass that you would hit on a guitar and although it's the same pitch it has a much different sound to it.
