I have been coming to Japan since 1999 in the form of a week long vacation once or twice a year and now I have made the move. Well I suppose for now its just getting by here in Japan. That's thanks to my Japanese family and my wife. Also the support of my You Tube friends here in Japan has been invaluable towards my adjustment to Japanese life as a gaijin. I am a pretty good mechanic an ace electrician and from what they say a great drummer....... but now that's all on hold as I just try to learn Japanese and survive the ALT world so I can make ends meet. I landed at Narita Airport on October 8th 2008 .............................. .............................. ..................... Lets get a few things outta the way here. Answers to FREQUENTLY asked questions: I like dogs better than cats. I like anime but I do not see myself as a Japan freak. I love Japan and I like the nature of the respectful culture. I came to Japan many times before I moved here although living here is very different. I am 41 years old. I hate pickles. I eat and drink too much. I met my wife in the states and yes she is Japanese and better with English than I am. I will not tell you whom I work for until I get fired or quit. I like video games but I have no time to play now. I am poor. I like the color black. I am 5 foot 11 inches tall and have blue eyes and weigh 93 kilos. I like chocolate and cake. I eat Japanese food.My favorites are Yakitori and sushi. I like pizza and hamburgers but don't eat them often in Japan. I like sports as a socializing event and excuse to drink and party. I lived all over the US as a kid and settled in Boston then came to Japan. Hawaii, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, NY, Colorado, and Florida I lived in many places and always had to adjust quickly to a new American culture. I am a bad speller. I talk before I finish my thoughts. I interrupt people in conversations. I am not gay but I have no issues with ones sexual orientation. I am a household wiccan/buddist. I am not religious I am superstitious. I believe in aliens but why the fxxk would they come here? I believe humans are no better than animals.... we are just really clever. When I was a kid I used to take my toys apart to see how they worked and then make something else with the parts. I do not speak Japanese yet. I look good in a suit. I know a lot but I am not smart. For example: I like to smoke. Cigarettes are 430 yen a pack. I smoke American Spirits (yellow pack). My favorite beer is Asahi Super Dry. I am mainly Polish but also Irish and French Canadian and who knows what else. I am an ugly American but many women here say I am handsome. I like science fiction movies. I like flea markets. I used to be a real jerk but now I'm a pretty nice guy.... usually. The #1 question: WHY DID YOU COME TO JAPAN? well cause its the magic land ...... really! I am not sure I just did it out of desire ... perhaps it was the need for something new or the urgency of middle age... beats me but I like it and I have always had an interest in Japan.
My music was my life in the states as well as wielding a wrench on the weekends so my friends (mostly musicians,artist,contractors) cars would stay on the road..welding...tinkering..yea that's what I did to relax. I closed my cowboyish electrical business and jumped on a plane. It was a lot easier for me because my wife is Japanese. That's a gift!
