What you are hearing when you shake the gun up and down is one of the 3 safeties that are built into the gun.

There is a slide in the mag chamber that will move up and down... anti-drop safety. That is all you are probably hearing.

I play all my Maddens on my old PS2. The New-Gen consoles are so fucking glitchy, and I can't believe a 20 year old console can do a sports game better than my PS3.
