Kyrie Irving kicked off the aerial display with an alley-oop to Paul George. Cleveland's rookie point guard then showed off his long-range shooting skills.
It was so much fun that Irving wasn't too upset that all those 3-pointers came in a meaningless game.
Irving was a perfect 8 for 8 from beyond the arc and finished with 34 points, helping Team Chuck beat Team Shaq 146-133 in the Rising Stars Challenge on Friday.
Irving said he couldn't remember being so hot from the field.
"No, it's never occurred in my career," he said. "You know, it's kind of unfortunate that it comes in the All-Star game. These stats don't carry over into the season. But at the end of the day, it was still fun to get out there with those talented guys. So it was a great experience."
This year's Rising Stars Challenge had a different format, with the rookie and second-year players mixed together on teams for the first time. The league also inserted a little more name recognition with former stars Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley serving as general managers and drafting the teams.
Lin had a relatively quiet night. His biggest highlight came early in the second half when he took a pass from Minnesota star Ricky Rubio and drove it underneath for a reverse layup.
Irving got the game off to a rousing start with the pass to George, and Rubio turned routine passes to his Shaq teammates into behind-the-back and between-the-leg looks.

Y poco a poco fue encontrando los huecos que la defensa rival dejaba y los aprovechó para intentar acercar a su equipo en el marcador.
No había llegado aún su momento. Ricky esperaba ansioso la llamada de Shaq, mientras el equipo rival destrozaba el aro rival en cada ataque. Pero fue salir el español y comenzar la reacción de su equipo. Dejó de lado su faceta anotadora y empezó a repartir felicidad entre sus compañeros en forma de asistencias. Lo mejor de su repertorio, un pase por la espalda, marca de la casa, a Markief Morris que acercaba a los suyos a seis puntos.
Fue un espejismo. Kyrie Irving, el gran rival de Ricky en la carrera por el 'Rookie del año', cogió carrerilla y con 11 puntos consecutivos amplió la ventaja de los suyos para irse con 12 puntos de ventaja al descanso. Todo a pesar de los esfuerzos de un Ricky que para finiquitar la primera parte demostró que perfectamente podría hacer las veces de 'quarterback' en un equipo de fútbol americano con un pase de lado a lado de la cancha que sorprendió incluso a sus compañeros.
Nada más salir del vestuario, Ricky protagonizó una de las jugadas del partido. Recogió un balón en su campo, le hizo un caño a Cousins y le puso un balón en el aire al 'Cyborg' Griffin para que la machacase sin piedad. El español reclamaba para sí unos focos que apuntaron durante toda la noche a 'CeLincienta'. La nueva sensación de la NBA, sin embargo, no cumplió con las expectativas y pasó más tiempo en el banco que en una cancha que le había puesto la alfombra roja para su lucimiento.
Mientras el público disfrutaba de la conexión entre Ricky y Griffin y esperaba la explosión de Lin, los de Barkely siguieron a lo suyo que no era otra cosa que conquistar el triunfo. De la mano de Irving, MVP con 34 puntos, y del saltarín Paul George, los de Barkley sentenciaron el choque con una salida fulgurante en el segundo acto. El choque estaba finiquitado. Tocaba hacer las delicias del respetable con jugadas de fantasía y demostrar por qué el All Star es la gran fiesta del baloncesto. Una celebración en la que Ricky se convirtió en el invitado estelar, demostrando que está hecho para la NBA.

THE FACTS: Minnesota forward Kevin Love shook off a terrible start to score 12 fourth-quarter points, including the game-winning free throws with one-tenth of a second remaining, and the Timberwolves won their third straight game, beating Philadelphia 92-91 in Minneapolis.
Jrue Holiday led the 76ers with 20 points, but first-place Philadelphia extended its losing streak to three games for the first time this season.
Love missed 13 of his first 15 shots, but helped carry Minnesota's offense at the end of a game that never had a margin larger than one point in the final 6:47. And after rebounding Sixers' guard Lou Williams' 20-footer with 3.6 seconds to play and the Wolves trailing 91-90, Love was given the opportunity to win the game after a timeout. He took the inbounds pass and muscled his way toward the basket, and with :00.1 on the clock, Sixers forward Andre Iguodala was whistled for a reach-in foul. Love made both to finish with 20 points and 15 rebounds and give Minnesota the lead, and the Wolves easily broke up Philadelphia's attempt at a desparation lob pass tip-in.
Ricky Rubio scored a career-high 22 points, and Nikola Pekovic added 17 for the Wolves.
TURNING POINT: Two minutes into the fourth quarter, Kevin Love was 2-for-15 from the field, had not hit a basket since midway through the first period, and was growing frustrated. But when he squared up for a 16-footer with 9:48 to play, his problems suddenly faded away. The shot fell, and Love followed up with a jump-hook in the lane and a 20-footer on the Wolves' next two possessions, making both. He pumped his fist as he ran down the floor after the second one, and he powered Minnesota's offense the rest of the way, scoring 12 points in the quarter.
HOT: With his fellow starters combining to make just 3-of-14 first-quarter shots, rookie guard Ricky Rubio took it upon himself to provide enough offense to prevent Minnesota from falling into too deep of a hole. Philadelphia's defense sagged off the point guard, trusting their interior defense to keep him from the basket, but Rubio hit two layups, two 3-pointers and a running bank shot in the lane to score 14 first-quarter points. After tying his career-high with 18 points Friday in Houston, Rubio set a new one Sunday, finishing with 22 points -- his first 20-point game since Nov. 25, 2007, while with Joventut in the Spanish League -- to go with his five assists.
BAD MOVE: Young was trying to stay in front of Love on Minnesota's final possession, and Elton Brand was ready to rotate to the basket once Love got a step on him. But Iguodala, assigned to guard Rubio in the corner, spun and slapped at the basketball as Love drove past, catching him across the arm for a foul that sent Love to the line for the game-winning free throws.

La victoria fue la tercera consecutiva y permite a los Timberwolves (16-16) tener marca positiva y la posibilidad de llegar al Partido de las Estrellas con más triunfos que derrotas.

THE FACTS: The Minnesota Timberwolves got another big night from Kevin Love as they defeated the Charlotte Bobcats 102-90 on Wednesday night. With the victory, the Minnesota Timberwolves ended their four-game losing streak and in doing so the Charlotte Bobcats extended their losing streak to 16 games, the longest losing streak in franchise history. Charlotte is now 1-15 on the road. Love scored 30 points and grabbed 18 rebounds for Minnesota, overcoming 21 from Kemba Walker and 18 from Corey Maggette.
QUOTABLE: "They came out and shot the ball well and we were slow getting into the game and gave up 30 points in the first quarter. After that we were pretty good defensively and we executed a lot better offensively. Especially in the end of the third and the fourth quarter."

THE STAT: Minnesota took care of the ball, made good passes and hit their shots, especially down the stretch. They shot 43-for-85 (50.6 percent) for the game and accumulated 26 assists with only 13 turnovers. In the third and fourth quarters, Minnesota shot 59.1 percent and 55.6 percent respectively. And perhaps most significantly, they avoided the costly turnovers late in the game that contributed to their four game losing streak. They only had two turnovers in the final frame.
TURNING POINT: After trailing for all but a couple of seconds in the first half, Minnesota opened up a lead after halftime and closed the third quarter with a 14-5 run to enter the final frame with a 76-66 lead. In the fourth quarter, they quickly extended their lead to 19 points on strong play from Luke Ridnour and Nikola Pekovic.
QUOTABLE II: "They forced me into some tough shots in the end of the third quarter and early in the fourth quarter, so other guys stepped up.
