About this user

The Other Half was a group project created in a Womens Studies class. The title of the project was 'Social Change' our project idea came from our moderator Valenka who did a social experiment by having people of different races sit with each other and talk about racism and white privilege in our society. The group members were Valenka, John, Kashae, and Zach all of whom agreed to do our topic on heterosexism. From Valenka's idea, we decided to have straight and gay, conservative and liberals sit together and have a discussion debate on issues relating to sexuality. In order to succeed with our project we had to find students from other classes to participate. We selected Laura, Matt, and Chris to represent the 'conservative' and the 'general' public views. From this project, we all learned a lot and had so much fun doing activism that we plan to make more episodes later in the future. So keep checking up on 'The Other Half' because we're going to continue with our activism and talk about other issues such as: sexism, racism, and all the other social/political issues that are still going on today in America. I just want to remind everyone that we're all students, and we try to do our research before every episode and sometimes our information can be in-accurate, this is just our way to get people involved to start thinking and begin conversations about these issues.
