Клоун-мим театр "Лицедеи" - первый в России театр, работающий в жанре клоунады, был создан в Ленинграде в 1968 году Славой Полуниным.
Уникальность клоунского ревю в том, что оно рассчитано абсолютно на все возрастные категории - его воспринимают и детская, и взрослая аудитории. Это не цирк в привычном его понимании, а театр на стыке клоунады, эстрады и трагифарса. Вместо слова - пластика и мимика, музыка и эксцентрика. Смех и слезы, радость и печаль, зло и добро - эти простые чувства и истины в искусстве "Лицедеев" близки и понятны в любой точке земного шара. В мировых театральных рейтингах "Лицедеи" входят в число лучших театров, работающих в жанре театральной клоунады.


Licedei is the first and the only clown-mime theatre in Russia, which is engaged in the clownery genre. It was organized in 1968 in Leningrad by Slava Polunin. Some of its other organizers are still working in Licedei, but the main initiative group of the company is represented by Licedei's workshop graduates of 1984 year. The unique feature of a dumb clown- mime performance is that it can be understood both by adults and children, i. e. any age. It is not like circus in the usual sense of the word; it is a theatre on the borderline between clownery, variety show and tragic farce. Critics call it poetic clownery. No recitals, no social context and no clearly emphasized national orientation is what makes it so different and unique. No words - instead there are plastic movements and mimicry, music and expressiveness. Laughter and tears, joy and sadness, the good and the evil - these are the simple emotions and truths of Licedei's art which can be understood by anyone from any place. In the world's theater charts Licedei are among the best theatres performing in the theatrical clownery genre.
