just got my voting papers today no guarantees of anything in it any body that votes yes must be stupid as we all know the cost would spiral out of control with no benefit for anybody.

Did you know that nearly £1,000,000,000 of the budget is allocated to items that only provide admin, back up, set up costs and will not add one piece of capital infrastructure, one bus, one train, one tram, one piece of tarmac or any improvment to transport at all. That's 9ver 90%of the £1,150,000,000 loan that is being taken out in the council taxpayer's name.

Is that a good use of money? Vote 'no'

Did you know that vehicles entering the charge zones fell 10% in the 10 years 1997-2007? Public transport usage in this time is up 30%. Is there really a need to charge veicles in the hope that they get off the road.

It'll be an economic disaster, vote 'no'

I'm afraid swemmel1971, the effect on the environment cannot be contained in the micro environ of Salfor or the city. You will note that the Transport innovation fund brochures do not claim evironmental improvement even though they make a lot of unachievable or misleading claims. The congestion charge will force employers out of Manchester be that to out of town office parks, Leeds, Birmingham, Newcastle, Dusseldorf, Warsaw or Hanoi. This means that with less employment in the centre, those left in employment will need to take to their cars to get to work and result is more CO2.

Given that transport could be improved more effectively and cheaply than following the TIF plan, The sensible vote is a 'NO'

It's just selfishness which makespeople vote NO. all very well saying "I'm alright jack" I'll drive my big car to work killing the environment and the folk who have to live in Manchester and Salford. What do I care I live in the quiet suburbs which I return to every night...

Vote YES

It's just selfishness which makespeople vote Yes. all very well saying "I'm alright jack" as jobs go and council tax goes up because the sums are wrong, we'll be asking who actually benefits? Richard Leese may have a nice little earner out of it, Everyone else will pay the price.

VOTE NO
