Notre Dame de Paris is a French-Canadian musical which debuted on 16 September 1998 in Paris. It is based upon the novel Notre Dame de Paris by the French novelist Victor Hugo. The music was composed by Riccardo Cocciante (also known as Richard Cocciante) and the lyrics are by Luc Plamondon.
Since its debut, it has played throughout France, South Korea, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada. A shorter version in English was performed in 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA) and a full-length London production, also in English, ran for seventeen months. Popular songs from the show, such as Belle and Le temps des cathédrales have also been translated into Belarusian, Catalan, Czech, German, Lithuanian, Polish, Russian and English.
Notre Dame de Paris, according to the Guinness Book of Records, had the most successful first year of any musical ever. The score has been recorded at least seven times to date (2007): the original French concept album, which featured Israeli singer Achinoam Nini (aka Noa) as Esmeralda was followed by a live, complete recording of the original Paris cast. A complete recording of the score in Italian was made, along with a single disc of excerpts in Spanish from the Madrid production. The original London cast album featured several of the original Paris stars, but only preserved a fraction of the score in English. The orchestral group I Fiamminghi recorded a CD of melodies from the score. A complete set of instrumental backing tracks has also been released.

Fransa, Belçika, İsviçre ve Kanada gibi Fransızcanın anadil ve/veya yoğun olarak kullanıldığı ülkelerin önemli şehirlerinde sahnelendikten sonra orijinal müzikalden daha kısa olan bir ingilizce versiyonu 2000 yılından itibaren Amerika, Las Vegas'ta ve tam İngilizce versiyonu da Londra'da oynanmış olup müzikalin dünya çapında tanınıp sevilmesine vesile olmuştur. Çok büyük bir başarı yakalamış ve bir çok kere sahnelenmiştir.
Sahnelendiği diller arasında Fransızca, İngilizce, İtalyanca, İspanyolca, Rusça gibi diller mevcuttur. Fransızca versiyonunun Paris Kongre Sarayı'nda, İtalyanca versiyonunun Verona Arenası'nda, Rusça versiyonunun Moskova'daki kayıtları CD ve/veya DVD ile yayınlanmış olup her dildeki albümü dünyada 10 milyon kopyadan fazla satmıştır. Seyirci sayısınında 12 milyonu geçtiği bilinmektedir.Ayrıca bağımsız olarak Ermenice ve İsveççeye de çevrilse de hiçbir zaman sahneye konmamıştır.
Yakın geçmişte Uzak Doğu turnesine çıkan müzikalin buradaki dili Fransızca olmuş ve Seul, Pekin, Şangay ve Tayvan'da sahnelenmiştir. Buradan sonra 2005 yılında Paris'te tekrar sahnelenmiştir.

Notre-Dame de Paris est une comédie musicale, dont la première a été jouée le 18 septembre 1998 à Paris au Palais des Congrès. Ce spectacle s'inspire du roman de Victor Hugo. Le parolier en est Luc Plamondon et le compositeur, Richard Cocciante.
Depuis, elle a été présentée dans plusieurs villes en France, Belgique, Suisse et au Québec. Une version courte en anglais est jouée depuis 2000 à Las Vegas (États-Unis) et une version anglaise (disponible sur disque) a été jouée à Londres, où elle a connu un succès mitigé.
Elle a fait l'objet de nombreuses représentations à Montréal. L'adaptation italienne a été jouée à Rome ainsi que dans les arènes de Vérone. Il existe également une version en castillan jouée à Madrid et Barcelone ainsi qu'une version russe interprétée à Moscou.
Une tournée internationale francophone passa en 2005 par Pékin, Shanghai, Séoul, Taïwan avant son retour à Paris en décembre 2005.
