The Wall & The Window

Handmade folk pop tunes.

A warm sweater on a crisp autumn afternoon. The crackle of a fireplace and a cool breeze lifting the curtains. The warmth of analog, the ease of digital. History meets mystery meets a shadowy face.

The Wall & The Window's debut takes on the immense task of creating an album inspired by the American Civil War, a surreal and melancholic period in our history that was not without moments of hope, spirit and glory. The album intends not to be an all encompassing representation of events but rather a pointillistic pastiche of characters and events that shaped our nation at this time. Postcards from the front to home (and back again), if you will.

The Wall & The Window makes creative use of archaic and modern recording technology, capturing each of its tunes on mediums like the 4 track cassette tape, wax cylinder recorder, and everything else in between.

Mentalists, instrumentalists, and songwriters Adam Mormolstein and Kristen Holtschlag create music with the hypnotizing simplicity of intertwining harmonies. Songs run the gamut from sweet and simple to dark and complex. Some say they are the Norm Abrams of the folk music scene while yet others say they don't know who Norm Abrams is. Either way you'll be sure to enjoy the unique folk musical stylings of The Wall & The Window. Stay tuned for more information and behind the scenes looks at the making of their debut.
