1. a revolutionary movement transforming the evolution of the violin.
2. a band formed and fronted by a female 5-string electric violinist.
The Violution has been a well-kept secret until now, bursting onto the music scene with a track and video release of an instrumental cover of the the Foo Fighters' popular song, "The Pretender". A full-length album of instrumental covers of hard rock and heavy metal tunes is slated to follow later this year, tentatively scheduled to be released late fall of 2011.
5-string electric violinist Jennifer Lynn is joined by bassist Marty O'Brien (We Are the Fallen, Tommy Lee, Methods of Mayhem) and drummer Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper, SIXX A.M., Impellitteri). With no electric guitarist or vocalist in the band, Ms. Lynn records all the rhythm and lead guitar parts note-for-note and follows every subtle nuance of the vocals using her custom-wired effects pedalboard.
