the legato is still there ,the high note is brief but bang on pitch and you can be sure that in the theatre live it was collosal .i have the whole opera on tape and all her high c,s are in place and her phrasing in all her duets is as beautiful as ever.this is a great performance

Juan Oncina is the greatest werther every thought every heartfelt dream is there for all to see ,it is an inspired performance and dramatically leaves much of todays interpreters floundering in his wake.

oncina is one of the greats and in this opera probably the greatest.he looks every inch the poet capable of being inspired by all nature and then die for love.

This voice does not need Bells and trumpets to imbelish it as it all ready comes with all the bells and trumpets rhat make up the greatest human voice that ever existed;but in this recording , as in so many of Renata`s recordings, Decca again has made the best adeste fidelis that exists!!!!

Great coloratura, but i cant help hearing this singer in my head singing a very beautiful lyric Rodolfo in Boheme , without damaging his voice.Put it this way, if he can already sing Nemorino without the cuts, then Rodolfo is a doddle fror him.
