Hey, after a long stretch of writer's block I thought I might as well do something drastic to see if I could shake some ideas out. So I did. The result are these demos, all written, performed, and recorded by myself alone between 3:31 PM Wednesday and 3:30 PM Thursday. The songs are various genres and quite frankly all experimental in every way. "I'm Back" channels some of the Meat Loaf energy I've wanted to try out. "Breathe" is my first complete acapella track (with claps). "Fall into Winter" is well... pretty much my standard kind of track. "Reach Out" was recorded late at night, so I had to be quiet... and because I was tired the only creative avenue that came to me was a smooth track (wish I would've gone with Whisper-Metal). "Waiting in Line" is a bizarre as heck garageband/Cake-sounding account of a dude waiting in line while an odd british man in charge keeps shouting out delays. "Lightning" is another one of my standard techno tracks... got a little bit eaten in the final mix. "Hey, Monday" is a pop song defined by the trombone backing. "An Ode to 1-5-6-4" , lastly, is a grandiose thank you to my favorite easy-way-out in harmonic structure. Sure, stuff's outta tune. The mixing is off. The performances aren't quite there. But hey, I did it all in a day (plus slept 5 hours... by accident). There's some crazy stuff in here, and definitely material to revisit. Enjoy.
