It does technically make a short circuit. But the gauge of the wire is so small that the current has a hard time flowing through it. There is a lot of resistance in such a small wire, and the resistance causes the electrical energy to be lost as heat, and with 30ft of wire, the energy is disperse...

I am in the process of doing this to a longstrike. If I get the same results, then there will finally be a nerf "sniper rifle" that has an effective range of more than 20 feet. Thanks for the idea, I'll let you know how it works!

This is actually really helpful. I left my charger at home when I left for college and rather than buy a new one and wait for them to ship it to me, I made one of these out of a spare car charger my friend had. Thanks for the help!
