In February 2008 representatives from organizations concerned about youth met to discuss the increase in teen births in Dougherty County. Since that time, more than 30 organizations and concerned community members have joined the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition. Representing community-based organizations, insurers, DoCo school system, colleges and universities, hospital and health care organizations the Coalition members meet weekly to participate in planning sessions to develop strategies which will prevent first teen pregnancies and reduce repeat births.
