Instead of focusing if a god exist or not, why not observe the universe, because it is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Your question is very similar to the "What if you are wrong?" question, which is most certainly a very stupid one. Dawkins answered it pretty well in a video here on youtube. But then I could just ask the question back, what if you are wrong?
