About Me:

The 26-01-12 Update:

Things are finally back to some form of workable, although there's still a few problems left to work out. At any rate I'll no longer be uploading both D2 and Oblivion on and off, rather I'll record some, upload that, record the other, upload that, repeat. Reason? FRAPS records at a much higher frame rate, and I don't have the HD space to cover for recording two games with the subsequent increase in raw video size. But hey, both are working, right?

As for Last Window; STILL haven't forgotten, just me = lazy when it comes to checking Camtasia and the like. I'll get off my ass eventually.

New PC status:

Recording audio - Seems to work, still have to work out audio levels, quality, and the like. It does work, just not necessarily well.

Playing audio - Works, turns out the on-board audio card is advanced enough to suit my needs. Good, because Realtech's filters are MUCH better than CREATIVE's, not that that matters at all for recording purposes.

Games (DeSmuMe) - Tested, FPS went from 'unplayable' to 'maxed out while running Camtasia'. However, the microphone function somehow broke, so half of the games I can now play at a decent framerate can't actually be played anymore. I managed to get DeSmuMe to accept my actual microphone as valid input, but that doesn't work for TASing and recording...well...yeah.

Rendering - Rendering options are limited, which do a number on the audio quality thanks to Microsoft demanding pay for what was previously free. And functional. That aside rendering speed is up +90%.

Uploading: Still as slow as ever, as is my internet connection when it's cranky.

Games (Diablo II) - Tested with several parts recorded, rendered and uploaded. Seems like everything is working fine

Games (TFTD) - Untested

Games (Oblivion) - Some randomness due to me not re-installing a few things that I was planning to delete anyway aside, everything seems to be working just fine.

Ok, so I've played Skyrim for ~70 hours and I have to say they really have improved. No bugs occured in my game, just some small crashes, but I got used to those by playing TES IV and Fallout. You should try getting it, even if you're not LPing it :D Even though the storyline is still kind of meh (You're the Chosen One blah blah blah) it still has lots of possibilities.

If I remember I used a program that extracts the game variable data, such as how many scrolls a tome can hold, with a program from the .mpq files. Those files (in .txt and .bit format, although the latter isn't useful for modding purposes) can be altered with the Windows standard text editor thing, although I think I used a separate program called Diablo 2 Excell for it. With those files altered you need to force D2 to look into a separate folder for it's files (otherwise it'll use the originals) and force it to re-format the .txt files into game data, otherwise it won't take effect. The latter by forcing the game with -txt -direct. I managed to randomly stumble on it while experimenting with modding, how anyone found all that out the first time is beyond me

Well, Runeword 'mod' is a modified mpq. Has nothing to do with actual tool which I for one never found out to make such convenience changes that you made. Clever solution with read-only. I would've just copied myself. Shows how people lack creativity in certain aspects.

None, the tomes holding more scrolls and such I modded in the same way I need(ed) a Runeword Mod to allow Ladder-only Runewords in SP (Insight being a Ladder-Only, normally). What program I used for that, I eh...is one I've yet to reinstall. I'm sure a Google search will turn something up though.

As for actually luck-manipulating stuff like imbuing the javelins, I set the saves folder to "read-only", meaning saving and exiting won't actually save the game, and I simply unset the read-only property once I rolled something sufficient, after which saving-exiting actually saves again.

Curious - what editor did you use for 'luck manipulation' with stacks, tomes and gambling in D2?

It's been suspended for two years, I'm afraid I'll never go back to it.

is there any chance of rock raiders being back soon?

Channel will be forced to look like complete, utter horse shit on 1 March due to the new designs becoming mandatory, in case people can't see the big banner that I can

So far so good it would seem, I managed to get the game to run again and the old savefiles are loading, although even though I copy-pasted all the relevant mod files the game still complains something is missing. More than that, after loading up the save file a staff named Syndel Blaster gets added to my inventory with no word or warning. The only thing close to that name is Syndelius Gatharian, the Dark Elf Mage from A Better Mouse Trap. Weird...

I've been told that, apparently, the present rendering method is of sufficient quality, so I guess I'll just roll with it. Presently trying to re-install OOO 1.33, and afterwards I'll try to make sure I can override the default mod files with the ones I was using and edited, lest I spend ANOTHER few hours adding over 300 items in a very slow and very tedious way. Spelltomes, easiest money Bethesda ever made, seriously.
