The Social Fund for Development (SFD) established by Presidential Decree 40/1991 as a social safety net in Egypt, contributes to combating unemployment and alleviating poverty. Its objectives are to stimulate and sponsor small and micro enterprises, create new job opportunities for the youth, and upgrade living conditions for the low-income groups. It adopts numerous human and community development programs to ensure the welfare of Egyptian citizens and improve the environment. It also provides an array of financial and non-financial services for the youth and would-be-entrepreneurs.
