THE SCRIPTERS, a brand new songwriting team which compromises of two young and talented individuals. Leo and Chicago "Delivery Girl" Banks, both born and raised in New York came together in 2007 to share their passion for music, songwriting, arranging and singing. Together the two of them form a very powerful unit and when joined, they create something real magical. Their goal as a writing team are to work with talented new, up and coming and established artists, land placements and to sign to a major publishing company. The Scripters are always looking to collaborate with different producers as well as other songwriters to craft hit records that will one day appear on the Billboard charts, feature on albums, appear in TV, film, commercials and performed live. Each member of this unit contributes something unique as far as style goes. Not to mention, both individuals possess different personalities. The team writes in genres such as R&B, Pop, Soul, Rock, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, etc. Currently, they are working with hot new producers like YZ (Mary J. Blige, Wyclef Jean, Meli'sa Morgan), Miykal Snoddy (Jamie Foxx, Rhymefest, Trey Songz), Chad Beatz (50 Cent, Olivia, Lloyd Banks), The Inkredibles (Amerie), Jay Wes (Lee Carr, Huey), A.B. and Krazyfigz just to name a few.
LEO, a native of Brooklyn, NY was born and raised in Flatbush to West Indian parents. Growing up he was influenced by music and art, his talent for songwriting and arranging began during his early teenage years. He started penning songs with his best friend for themselves and their sisters, who at the time were singing (laughs). Throughout the years, Leo started taking his gift for music seriously, leaving his then passion for drawing behind. What started off as lyrics written to other artists' instrumentals grew into original compositions as time went by. He would later break out on his own and started networking heavily online, writing for other acts, running his very own promotions, and production company. Fast forward to 2007, Leo made the decision to focus solely on songwriting, handling A&R duties, networking and building long-term relationships, publicity and liaison between various producers, songwriters, engineers, A&R's, managers and music executives. In mid-2007, he started The Scripters, a team of hot, creative, up and coming songwriters from NY trying to break into the music business. Leo's favorite artists are Mary J Blige, 112, Faith Evans, Notorious B.I.G., Foxy Brown, Boyz II Men, Total, Carl Thomas, Aaliyah and the list goes on. As far as his contribution to the team, he brings the R&B, Pop and Hip-Hop/Soul vibe. A sound reminiscent to the 90's decade, in which he considered a golden era for music and the blueprint for a lot of the artists out today.
CHICAGO "DELIVERY GIRL" BANKS, a native of Wyandanch, NY (a town on Long Island) is a highly driven young lady who since a child appreciated music. From singing back in High School with girl groups and performing at various clubs and lounges. One of the groups she was part of even had a major label situation on the table but eventually, Chi parted ways and continued as a solo artist while writing heavily and referencing songs for other acts. Her work ethic to create is unmatched and her determination to succeed in everything she does is something that draws everyone to her. Banks cites Brandy and Toni Braxton as her favorites and also appreciates the talents of Michael and Janet Jackson. These people have helped to shape her songwriting and sound. As the only female to represent her team, she plans to hold her ground and definitely "deliver." She's considered to be the one who crafts those catchy Pop tunes as well as R&B and Rock and always finds a way to incorporate her experiences into a song. This year, Chi will continue chasing her dreams as a songwriter while collaborating with her team members, working with new and established acts, recording, and growing as a writer.
