He obviously hasn't read surah 9 which is known as the verse of the sword and because it is the 'final revelation' it abrogates earlier surahs. Again this is not according to me but to the four main schools of Islamic jurisprudence. The word Kufir does mean 'non-believer' however read surah 9, read Islamic history to know what the is in store for the 'kufir' I won't even bother with the Islamic penalty for apostasy (leaving the 'faith' of Islam - which is death (unless the person is not in all their mental facilities.
