"Perfect" was actually a "dime store" label. These records were pressed in inferior materials to sell at rock-bottom prices. Even when new, or in mint condition, they're quite noisy. However, it seems to me that some of the nicest melodies and performances were released on those cheap discs!

It is interesting to note that, by the time the diamond disc format was devised, the cylinder releases were usually transcribed (acoustically) from the discs. That's not the case here. The cylinder and disc versions of this talk are separate takes.
