@djnik0515 i would say the polyps are normal just a diff colour morph which makes it an even more "prized" piece of coral... if the red on the monti isn't turning white or sloughing off slime then it should be healthy and you'd have nothing to worry about.

also should mention not to submerse the output end of the tubing cause it will create a backwards flow into the reservoir and overflow... like mine did today and created a small flood :s lol. but once figured out it's a good system.

@savvy4215 only the hqi version will support most coral (softies, sps, lps). its mainly the lighting and placement that allows this. however, more importantly is water quality especially for sps. the only thing that needs upgrading is the skimmer... yes the skimmer does work, but not well enough...

also, mangroves wont do too much unless you have lots of them and they're big. also another powerhead wont hurt, more flow the better. if thats caulpera on the rock front right i would pluck it out cause caulpera root system can be a bitch to rid of once it starts spreading.

acans corals are also good starters and not to mention colorful (keep away from most other corals though). pagoda cup corals last through anything IME. i supplement my tank with Kent Coral Accel which made all the corals perk up nicely. otherwise nice looking corals you got there :)

What is "The Reef Project"?Through our love of reefing, we thought it would be interesting to start a small scale aquaculture project. With our purchase of corals varying of 17 species of Acans and SPS, we hope to successfully grow and propagate at an efficient rate.
With our progress we also hope to find successful methods and tips to share with you so can put them to work in your own tanks.
