Hair Conversations in the Caribbean
This series offers a closer look at the varying perceptions of Caribbean people towards Afro textured Natural Hair and hence by extension "The Natural Hair Movement". Interviewees from different Caribbean islands reveal common ideologies, shocking differences, experiences and attitudes related to natural afro-textured hair. External perspectives are also offered by African born individuals who have experienced cultures across two hemispheres and are eager to provide a comparison of cultural perspectives and practices of the African diaspora and "Black Africa". The series hopes to unveil and interrogate controversial issues directly and indirectly related to Afro-textured hair and cultural identity in the Afro-Caribbean community.
