I loved this song when it came out...I was working at Macy's Stanford and they had the 45 of this song on the jukebox in the Juniors Dept...I almost got fired because I played it so much instead of doing my stockboy duties...subversive stuff for '67...still powerful message today.

This song very well may be the truest expression of the 1960's spirit of joy and fun and love ever written. It's a simple song but can be interpreted on so many different levels. Whenever I am feeling down and depressed, all I have to do is put this on and my mood lightens and life is good again.
