The Shawcross family are saddened to learn of the loss of Michael Goodwin the conductor of the Auburn Symphony. James always looked forward to Michael's feedback on his performances and played better after he had time to reflect on what Michael had said. Michael would always point out what James was doing right as well areas that needed improvement. The nicest thing he ever said was that James reminded him of himself when he was his age.
Michael Goodwin 1946-2012
James is having a very good year. He has competed in the Roland Atelier Organ Competition this spring and won his Regional to be invited to the finals in Las Vegas on May 7th. He was very happy to win the finals against other finalist from all over the country. James had only been playing the organ for six months before he won the nationals. Biography for James Pavel Shawcross
James is eleven years old and he has been taking piano lessons for the last five years. He presently takes classical piano studies from Yuriy Oliynyk, B. Mus., M.A. of Carmichael. When James was eight he performed at the Sacramento Ragtime Society, Sacramento Jazz Society (tailgate room), retirement homes, restaurants, hotels, charity events, and anywhere he could find a piano. James has a pure love of music and a strong desire to perform. James's lessons on piano are for classical, but he enjoys all kinds of music. He has a website dedicated to his music (www.aloveofmusic.com). He hopes to continue his music studies and one day be admitted into a conservatory.
