Admiration is powerful, it is also dangerous... If you admire someone that truly doesn't think that he/she deserves, he/she can feel worse than if you'd said nothing and he/she can even start to think that you are clueless. Remember, dog can't digest rice pudding and naturally devious and vulgar can't accept too much respect either. Similarly, if someone is convinced he/she did a good job and you criticize or nitpick, that can be profoundly demoralizing.
