Hey, Pagan Samuri, The animal sacrifice was unncessary--Christ's sacrifice, however, was. This messy world that we live in was not the way God intended it to be. But, because he didn't make us like robots, we have the freedom to choose to do his will or our own. If we choose to do something evil, then we have the freedom to do that. The opposite of freedom is control and God wants us to choose him, not be forced to serve him. So for those who have decided to do wrong-holocaust, slavery, etc. --that's people's motivation, not God's. Furthermore, I think God came to earth to live just so that we couldn't say, "God you don't understand how it feels to be human." He does.
