Boundless energy has been a defining attribute of Adriiana's since birth. From the early age of five, she began exploring her innate talents of voice and movement through vocal and dance lessons, to gymnastic and karate classes, and later high school music and drama clubs. Those formative experiences gave her an early conviction that music and dance was to be her calling in life.
Growing up in a large extended Italian Canadian family, it's little wonder that she developed a penchant for performance. She was constantly surrounded by music of one sort or another. Her grandmother used to sing to her as a child, her father played keyboards in a garage band in his youth and her cousins played a variety of instruments. According to Adriiana, "family gatherings are always a raucous affair, with lots of playing and singing. Whenever we're together, everyone has so much fun!" As a result of growing up in this environment, she was exposed to a wide swath of the musical landscape, from classic rock to pop and everything in between. Because of her love of movement and dance, her own musical roll models tend toward the pop/dance icons of the recent past, Madonna, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, whose moves she would practice until she had them all down. She looked for every opportunity to get comfortable in front of audiences and began honing her vocal and dance chops, playing numerous recitals, competitions and outdoor fairs. These early experiences became the driving force behind her passion for performance.
At the early age of 13, she took her first serious steps toward a career in music when she enrolled in guitar and piano lessons at a local music shop. It was this turn of events that led her to Murray Diagle who she began co-writing with, collaborating on a number of song demos. Out of these early sessions came the song 'Let You Go', which Diagle also produced. The single was released independently and began to attract the attention of pop radio programmers across the country including the CHUM radio chain who added Adriiana to their "Emerging Artist" program, an impressive accomplishment for a 13 year old, unsigned artist's, first foot forward. This early radio success attracted the attention of the producers of YTV's highly successful "Next Star" talent competition, for which she auditioned and ultimately made it to the season two semi-finals.
Following her stint on Next Star, she immediately went back into writing mode with her then writing partner Murray Diagle, penning the song "My Life". The Vic Park produced single was added to rotation at many Top 40 stations across Canada and ultimately led to her signing with Canadian indie label Wax Records.
Adriiana's self titled debut album is due out December 2011 on Wax Records, and is a true reflection of the singer's multifaceted personality. The dancehall inflected lead off single "We Are Young" is a mischievous interpolation of the Pat Benatar, 80's rock anthem "Love Is A Battlefield". From the fresh reinterpretation of "We Are Young" to the club rave of "Dancing In London" to the wistful musings of "If Only" to the pure pop sparkle of "Trouble" the Jeff "Diesel" Dalziel (Alyssa Reid, Edwin, Melissa O'Neil) produced album captures her pitch perfect vocal performance and distills it into 9 pure pop gems.
With "We Are Young" already making waves at Canadian pop radio, the eminent release of her debut album and touring plans in the offing, Adriiana is set to spread her infectious energy across Canada and the rest of world.
