About The Night Watch (early music)
The Night Watch: music from early traditions - mediaeval, renaissance, and early baroque on period instruments.

The Night Watch play 'early music' -- songs and dance tunes from the 12th century (the earliest we have in Europe) to the end of the 17th century, covering the mediaeval (12th--15th centuries), renaissance (15th--early 17th century), and early baroque (17th century) periods. We sing in mediaeval, Tudor and modern English, and play shawms, oud, recorders, gittern, cornamuse, lutes, rebec, cittern, pipe and tabor, renaissance guitars, gemshorn, bagpipes, simfony, percussion, psaltery, orpharion, and crumhorn.
Our mission is share this beautiful and exciting music through club and festival gigs, recordings, playing at wedding and public events, and the delivery of specialist music education through school workshops. We can simply play for you, or have you actively involved and engaged through participation in historical singing, dancing (pavan, galliard, branle) and playing instruments; and we'd also be delighted to help you celebrate a special event such as a wedding, engagement or anniversary (wearing period clothes if you request it).

The Night Watch: The Ambassadors (CD)
"eclectic and highly entertaining" ~ Paul Baker, Diabolus In Musica
"super ... such fun ... very, very good early music ... wonderful music and singing ... fantastic stuff"~ Genevieve Tudor, BBC Radio Shropshire, Sunday Folk
"two very top instrumentalists ... most enjoyable ... amazing instruments ... fascinating" ~ The Circle Folk Club
"The pair have a great knowledge ... transported back in time ... very good harmonies ... The Night Watch are a duo who are not afraid of a challenge!" ~ Folk Monthly
This looks superb - I'm just sorry I couldn't see it 'in the flesh'. Any news on a cinema/DVD release yet?
