Don't reverse until the low points of your opponents offense or unless hey want you to. Reversals usually go back and forth at the beginning of a match, if started of with a lock up, but after the first 1 or 2 lock ups, somebody has to be the bigger man and let his opponent work him over. If you want them to take control, ground grapple them 3 times...on the 3rd grab, they will automatically reverse. If there working a body part as a part of there offense, let them, it just adds to the story of the match.

Also, if you have the mindset of wanting to win, or not wanting to lose, you'd endup reversing at all the wrong times. Its your opponents job to make you look good, and yours to make him look good.

They can have regular punches/elbows and kicks that connect. Its not impossible since there a low kick in the game that connects to the opponents legs perfectly. I just wouldn't hold my breath when it comes to them making all strikes like that.
