Man arrested - Liverpool LAC

284 views 5 days ago
A man, accused of befriending and molesting underprivileged boys at an overseas school while masquerading as an Australian welfare worker, has been arrested and charged by Sydney detectives.

Around 6am today (Thursday 17 July), investigators from the Liverpool Local Area Command attended an apartment in Chipping Norton and arrested the 50-year-old technician.

He has been charged with 19 offences relating to aggravated indecent assault and sexual intercourse with children, aged between 14 and 16, throughout the 1990's until 2014.

Police will allege in court the man befriended some of his victims through his involvement in a south-west Sydney church youth group and as an assistant coach with a Sydney junior baseball team.

It will also be alleged, following information provided via Interpol, that he travelled to Vanuatu where he posed as a visiting Australian welfare worker and handed out toys to underprivileged boys who he later molested.

The man has been refused bail and ordered to appear today before the Liverpool Local Court.

"Our inquiries are continuing and we would like to hear from anyone who may have information in connection with these matters to come forward and contact police," Detective Sergeant, Graham Hibbs, said.

Anyone who can assist the investigation is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Liverpool Police on (02) 9821 8444.

Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov....
