About Me:
Years ago, Guitarist/Singer Jimmy Kelly and Guitarist/Singer JC Dwyer were both fronting different Rock bands that were set to co-headline the annual Riverside Margarita Mudslide Festival, on the banks of the Chimi-Chanagua River down in Ol' Mexico. Having played together in a Heavy Metal band years before, the two old friends spent the day catching up and knocking back some cervezas.
Just as Jimmy's band was wrapping up their set and JC's band was about to hit the stage, local authorities showed up and brought the festivities to a screeching halt. Seems JC and his bandmates had been involved in an incident the night before involving an unlicensed cockfighting ring and the daughter of a prominent local politician. All hell broke loose, and as JC's band was being thrown in the slammer, Jimmy was kind enough to smuggle his old friend out of there in a road case.
When the smoke cleared, JC was left to finish out his remaining handful of gigs solo, on what would become known as the "Unplugged and Heavily Drugged Tour." Afterwards, he embarked on a series of predominantly pointless adventures.
Jimmy continued to fly the Rock flag, to varying degrees of success, in Austin Texas, Cleveland Ohio and Oconomowoc Wisconsin, not necessarily in that order. Through the years he occasionally wondered what had become of JC after their last, ill-fated meeting, but kept his focus on the Music...and lots of booze.
Fast-forward to 2010, fate once again crossed the paths of these two misfits, in their old stomping grounds of South Florida. The friendship was immediately picked back up, with a major difference. Both men had, in their travels, discovered that they had an affinity for Country Music...REAL Country Music. They quickly co-wrote the song "DEAR BEER" and the chemistry was obvious...The Mobile Homies were born!!
As the newly-founded duo began to pick up steam, they befriended a wash-maiden by the name of Becky Osborne-Phillips, who had taken to singing along and tapping and slapping her Washboard in time as the guys rehearsed next to a dumpster out back of the laundromat she owned. Truth was, she was getting tired of running that place anyway, so she threw in her lot with The Homies, and even managed to drag her lovin' man Adam Phillips along for the ride, sittin' in on Mandolin and Lap Steele. An experienced Road-Dog and an intense perfectionist, Adam insisted the boys actually learn how to play, which, oddly enough, helped tremendously.
Pete Carmichael entered the fray just in time, as the bands original Bassist was called back into active duty with the CIA. Pete had been making a name for himself running a charity called "Hobo-a-Go-Go," an organization known for helping homeless people relocate and start new lives. But he had been disgraced when it came to light that it was actually a cover for harvesting their organs and selling them on the black market. With his credibility called into question, AND his 90's rock royalties stash depleted, the Homies seemed as good an option as any.
And so goes the sordid tale of The Mobile Homies...Modern-Day Jug Band? Dirty Rockers Playing Real Country? Or just a group of friends with a mutual love of Good Tunes and Good Times? Y'all be the Judge...MH
