About this user

I'm a man of few words but I have a lot to say.

I grew up in the English countryside of Yorkshire, next to a farm where I learned about pigs, cows, making hay by hand, and Polish food.

My Parents taught me the value of hard work and self reliance, and they opened me up to the great outdoors. I learned Bush craft by spending most weekends in the forests and moorlands with friends. I got into archery, caving, and rock climbing and was involved with The Wood Craft Folk (bit like The Woodcraft Indians) for a couple of years.
Catering College followed and I learned sea fishing and hunting while working as a chef in the south of England. I traveled to the Far East and Australia where I learned to cook bush tucker in restaurants and in the Outback.

After cooking for ten years my interests changed and I started renovating old houses and went back to college to learn plumbing. I became interested in renewable energy sources like solar hot water and hydro which led to green building and I built an extension on my house using locally sourced and recycled materials. I also became more driven to grow my own fruits, vegetables, and herbs and to support the local farming community by purchasing local food as much as I could. I worked for some friends in their vegetarian restaurant where we used all locally sourced produce.

My love for the outdoors continued and I started Fell running and Mountain biking.

I met and married a wonderful girl from Boston Mass and in October 2009 we moved to the US. We're in the process of renovating an old house, growing our own food, and trying to cut down our dependence on the trappings of modern society as much as we can. We have a dog named Maisey and five funny little chickens that provide not only fresh eggs everyday but loads of entertainment!

I hope that my ramblings help you all prepare for what our future holds, which I believe is ultimately a lower standard of living than we have become accustomed to.

Let's face it folks, the dinner party is over and it's time to clean the kitchen and get ready for tomorrow's service!
