Hi there! My name is Sakura Haruno! During my early years in the Ninja Academy, I was frequently bullied by others due to my large forehead. To try and combat this, I used my bangs to hide my forehead, fueling the other kids' teasing by indicating I was sensitive about it. Ino Yamanaka, realizing this, helped me by giving me a ribbon that I used as a way of drawing attention to the cuter features of my forehead, which helped me overcome my insecurity. Us two became best friends and I grew more confident, developing my own unique personality under Ino's guidance. Despite this, I felt that I was living in Ino's shadow and longed to prove myself as Ino's equal. Later, when I found out that Ino had a crush on Sasuke Uchiha, I ended our friendship so that we could compete for Sasuke's love, thus beginning a bitter rivalry between us. 

At the beginning, I had a deep infatuation for Sasuke Uchiha, rooted primarily in his good looks, cunning, cool attitude, and prodigious talents. For that reason, many of my early appearances are dedicated to my continuing efforts to win his affection. As the story progresses, I began to recognize that Sasuke is a real person with imperfections, and I develop a more sincere desire to be there for him. I also become concerned that Sasuke will someday abandon me and the rest of Konoha in his quest for power. When my fears come true at the end of Part I, I do all that I can to stop Sasuke from leaving, such as professing my love for him and offering to join him. Though touched by my words, they do not stop Sasuke from leaving from Konoha.  

Since then, I have made my personal goal to bring Sasuke home, which becomes a recurring component of my role though I still worry about his well-being, I am willing to attack him if it means returning him to Konoha. As time goes on and Sasuke becomes an increasingly more dangerous criminal, I recognize that Sasuke must be stopped at all costs. I also tell Naruto that I no longer have any feelings for Sasuke since he just keeps breaking my heart. However, Sai and Kakashi suspect that I am still in love with Sasuke, and that I want to stop him only so that he does not sink any lower. Upon meeting Sasuke once again, I become upset by how corrupted Sasuke has become and I attempt to kill him. I ultimately can not bring myself to do so, remembering all we went through together as members of Team 7. I have since come to accept that Naruto is the only one who can do anything about Sasuke. 

My relationship with Naruto Uzumaki, like with Sasuke, also changes throughout the series. When first teamed up together, I viewed Naruto as a talentless idiot who deliberately tried to ruin my life, the result of Naruto's efforts to win my heart interfering with my similar efforts with Sasuke. However, as the story progresses and Naruto continuously shows his worth as a ninja as well as his dedication to his team-mates, I realize that my initial perceptions of him were wrong. After Sasuke defects from Konoha, I plead to Naruto, believing him to be the only one capable of bringing Sasuke back. Although Naruto fails and is left in the hospital afterwards, he vows to someday complete the task I have given him. Realizing the lengths Naruto will go to for me, and inspired by his determination, I spend the next three years training with Tsunade so that in the future I can join Naruto in his quest to bring Sasuke back. 

I learn of the various hardships Naruto faces: the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox and Akatsuki. Saddened by the impact both forces have had on his life, I become protective of Naruto and I try to do whatever I can to help him overcome these obstacles. I develop a deep friendship with Naruto, due to our spending a lot of time together. After Sai tells me about Naruto's love for me and the pain that trying to fulfill his promise causes, I am instantly filled with guilt. Soon afterwards I tell Naruto that I love him and I try to get him to give up on his promise, but he does not believe me and tells me I am lying to myself. Sai seems to confirm this, telling Naruto that my confession was an attempt to release him from his promise, and possibly distract him while I hunt down Sasuke. Despite this, I begin to realize my feelings for Naruto are more than mere friendship.
