Windows user here. If you read past the first sentence, kudos.

Used Unix back when it was the commercial system of choice. Used Linux (still using it to connect to internet and filter out the random attacks by worms, bots and script kiddies, might even stand up to a dedicated assault, but I dun' care to prove anything). Used Mac at work and school. Used all sort of Windows, licensed and pirated, running WinXP right now. Picked it for the balance of stability, customization, compatibility and resources consumed.
Mac would be more stable, require no tuning but be more expensive and less compatible with my entertainment of choice - gaming.
Linux would be probably more stable, but would require significantly more tuning (and frankly I'm lazy enough not to want that). It would be free, more resource friendly, but the compatibility with gaming would be just as bad.
WinXP, reinstalled and retuned every couple of years when new hardware gets available is a tad annoying and has its own issues by the bucketful, including some of the worst built-in privacy invasion tools in the industry, but after some cleaning it suffices for my purposes. Still using GIMP, though..

If I didn't want to use Windows - I wouldn't, except at work, where I wouldn't be bothered about the system, so long as it does not affect my performance.
Which bears the question - Why the HELL would somebody HATE any operating system with such passion, except maybe when indiscriminately forced to study/support it in school or for work placement?
I keep seeing on YouTube kids and some almost adults spewing poison over some system and praising another. Some try to keep it in form of an argument. The dumber ones are as usual the loudest.

Why should somebody care that you never learned how to use a second button on a mouse or had to read a 300kb help file, because the searching is too complicated?
Yes, majority of the market is using Microsoft, 'cause it's cheaper.
Yes the richest folks pick the Mac, 'cause it's simpler.
Yes it takes quite a bit more skill to handle Linux.
